The stove is the most difficult to care technique in the kitchen, especially if it is gas. After all, unlike electric, it has a grille of heavy cast iron, burners that periodically clog, and handles that are very quickly dirty with fat. The stationary gas stoves also have an oven and drying cupboard, a rear flap, or a lid. From this material, you will learn how to clean the gas stove at home from grills to buttons, as well as how to make cheap and super-efficient cleaning solutions with your own hands.
8 steps of cleaning the gas stove
Before you start cleaning your gas stove, shut the gas supply faucet, cut it off if there is an electrical ignition function, put on rubber gloves, and follow our step-by-step instructions.
What do you want:
- Vinegar 9% (for cleaning the table, case, and handles off the stove);
- Washing alcohol or soda (for cleaning grills and handles);
- Dishwashing tool;
- Plastic bag (to clean the bars with a wash);
- Sponge with a hard side;
- Rags or paper towels;
- The basin;
- Toothpicks (to clean the crevices);
- A paper clip, pin, or needle (for cleaning burners).
First, we will clean the bars – the most problematic part of the gas stove. Please remove them and scrape the scraper of the snuggled pieces of food, fat deposits, and carbon monoxide in the corners. Here are three ways to clean:
- 1. How to clean the gas stove grill with soda. Spread half a cup of soda with water to make a paste-like consistency. Cover each grille with the resulting tool, paying special attention to the corners and joints, and then leave them for a few hours (at this time, proceed to the next stages of cleaning described below). After such treatment, removing the fat and the monoxide from the cast iron will be much easier. However, with old dirt, you will have to tinker a little, using the hard side of the sponge, detergent, or washing alcohol.
- Method 2. How to clean the grill of a gas stove with washing alcohol. According to most reviews, this method is the most effective. Wet the sponge with a wash and cover every inch of the grill. Then put it in a plastic bag, tie and leave for a couple of hours or more (at this time, start the next stages of cleaning the stove). In the end, rinse the grill with dishwashing liquid, remove the detached fat, and heat with a sponge.
- 3. How to clean the gas stove grill with a soap solution. Rub on a grater about a quarter of household soap, dissolve the shavings in hot water (5-7 liters) in the pelvis or sink and leave the grills soaked for a few hours. Then rinse them clean with a dishwasher. If necessary, treat the complex places with washing alcohol.
Keep in mind that washing cast-iron grills in the dishwasher is not only effective but also not useful for cast iron. After such a long stay in the water, it will certainly be covered with rust.
Also, remove the lids of the rings and soak them for a while in a pelvis with a hot soap solution (you can fold in the same pelvis where the grills are already soaked).
Using a dry brush or paper towel, clean the stove of crumbs and any other surface contaminants.
Let’s take care of the burners: remove them, wipe with a damp cloth and make sure that nothing interferes with gas flow. If necessary, clean the holes with an unbuttoned paper clip (pin/needle) and return the burners to the place.
Generously spray on the stove’s body with a spray solution of water and vinegar, diluted in a proportion of 1:1. Be sure to spray vinegar and on the handles (unless they are removable), control panel, back panel stove, oven if it is. Give the medium a job for you a minute or so. Next, wipe the stove with a clean cloth or paper towel.
By the way, if your stove’s body is white, you can sprinkle it and food soda after processing with vinegar. The resulting mixture will affect the fat and heat even more effectively. However, it will leave behind a white plaque, which will not be easy to wash off. That is why it is not recommended for owners of silver, black, and other color models to wash the stove with a mixture of vinegar and soda.
Soaking the stove in a vinegar solution will help to cope with most of the contaminants. However, to clean out the old fat plaque, you should additionally work with one of the following means:
- A dishwasher;
- It’s good alcohol;
Apply the product to a small brush (the toothbrush is perfect!) and brush local pollution in small circular motions.
Separately, it would help if you stopped at the stage of cleaning the handles of the gas stove and the button of electric burning, which is so difficult to clean because of their small size, existing hollows, and crevices clogged with fat.
- If the handles are removable, remove them and soak for several hours in a solution of equal parts of vinegar and water or a hot solution of grated household soap. If after such treatment, the aged fat is still not excreted, treat the complex places with a solution of washing and water (1:1), allow the alcohol to work for 5-10 minutes, and wipe the handles clean.
- How to clean the handles of the gas stove if they are not removed? The principle of work is simple: treatment with solutions “vinegar – water” or “wash – water,” soaking for 10 minutes, cleaning the toothbrush in circular motions. The slit should be cleaned with a toothpick.
